Be still. Listen. Follow.

Centering Prayer Society

A daily practice of becoming quiet, listening for Jesus through the Holy Spirit, and asking how we may serve Him today.

Learn the Practice

Jesus is present with us through the Holy Spirit.

We believe God placed the Spirit of His Son in our hearts. We know Jesus' Spirit as the Holy Spirit—always present, always near, and always inviting us into a living friendship with Him.

Prayer is more than speaking.

1

Jesus is our friend

Friendship requires two-way communication. We speak to Jesus in prayer, and we also make room to listen.

2

Jesus is our teacher

Jesus is the Word, the truth, and the giver of eternal life. We seek His direction with willing and obedient hearts.

3

God is our Father

We are children of God, and each of us is a temple in which the Holy Spirit is present.

“To know Jesus as a friend, we must be willing not only to speak—but also to listen.”

Make room for His voice.

Many of us speak to Jesus often in prayer. We may bring Him our needs, worries, and daily requests. Yet friendship depends on a two-way conversation of speaking and listening. Our grows when we also become still enough to listen to the Holy Spirit.

Centering Prayer is a meditative practice of quieting the mind, opening the heart, and listening for the direction of Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

The best time to find your mind quiet, is right after we wake up, right before we fall off to sleep, or while sleeping. Job 33:14-16

We believe the Holy Spirit may guide us through thoughts, visions, inner conviction, and callings placed upon our hearts. Listening helps us know Jesus, obey Him, and serve in His Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.

Centering Prayer can begin simply.

Step One

Choose a quiet place where you can sit without interruption.

Step Two

Release distractions and gently clear your mind.

Step Three

Become still and listen for the Holy Spirit's guidance.

Step Four

Ask, “Jesus, how may I serve You this day?”

Listening to Jesus is free and available to everyone.

The Holy Spirit is already present. The invitation is simply to set aside time each day, become quiet, listen, and respond with a willing heart.

“Jesus, I am here. Quiet my mind, open my heart, and show me how I may serve You today.”
