The biblical foundations of attentive prayer
The Centering Prayer Society uses the term Centering Prayer for a disciplined time of becoming still before God, listening for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, testing what is received, and responding in faithful obedience to Jesus Christ.
These articles present the Society’s interpretation of biblical passages connected with silence, listening, prayer, the indwelling Spirit, spiritual gifts, discernment, surrender, and service. Christians use the phrase “Centering Prayer” in different ways, so these studies invite readers to examine every teaching carefully in the light of Scripture.
